Clay mask recipes
A clay mask should be applied at least once a week and two to three times a week for oilier skin types.

Green clay
Best for oily skin as it is the most absorbent clay and is great for large pores

Red clay
Best for normal skin and good for broken capillaries and puffy eyes. Also makes a great body mud pack for improving muscle tone.

Pink clay
Best for dry and sensitive skins as it is very mild. Makes a great firming mask for the bust, thighs, stomach and upper arms. Very moisturising.

To apply a clay mask, first start with clean, exfoliated skin. In your hand or a small dish, mix 2 tsp. clay with 2 tsp distilled water or floral water until a paste is formed. If desired, add 1-2 drops of an essential oil synergy and/or 3-5 drops of healing oil (for normal to dry skin). Apply to skin, being careful to avoid the eye area. Wait until clay dries completely, then remove the mask with a warm cloth, using gentle upward strokes. After a clay mask, a facial massage with an aromatic skin oil can be wonderful and add to the healing benefits of the mask.

75ml almond oil
10 drops chamomile essential oil

Melt the cocoa butter in a double boiler over a low heat. Once melted, remove it from the heat and stir in the almond oil. To use the cleanser, rub a small amount over your neck and face in circular motions. Wipe clean with a cotton ball or soft cloth. Rinse the cloth and repeat until all the cleanser has been removed. Pat the face with cold water.

Remove the mixture from the heat and keep stirring until it has cooled and is starting to thicken. Stir in the essential oil and mix well. Spoon the mixture into jars.

Cold Cream #2
90ml almond oil
35g beeswax
250ml very hot water
10ml borax
6 drops of your favourite essential oil

Melt the oil and wax together in a double boiler over a low heat. Add the hot water and borax and beat together (the borax acts as an emulsifier). Once cooled slightly, add the essential oil and pour or spoon into jars.
